Shaheed Anwar Advocate was a prominent political figure and activist hailing from Balochistan. He belonged to the Siypaad tribe of Baloch, and his father’s name was Muhammad Ali. He was born on July 12, 1962, and passed away on December 9, 2009, as a result of a heart attack.

He was actively engaged in politics from his early student years. He pursued his law degree in the Soviet Union and was associated with the Baloch Students Organization (Sohb) during his time there.

Upon his return to Balochistan after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Anwar Advocate commenced his legal practice in the Chagai district. He maintained close bonds with his political allies, with a particularly strong connection to Shaheed Ghulam Muhammad Baloch. Sharing a common ideology and intellectual harmony, Anwar Advocate aligned himself with Ghulam Muhammad Baloch’s Balochistan National Movement (BNM).

In the 2004 council session, Anwar Advocate was elected as the Deputy Secretary General of the BNM. He played an active role in the protests that swept through Balochistan following the martyrdom of Shaheed Akbar Khan Bugti at the hands of the Pakistani army in 2006. Despite false arrest warrants issued by the Pakistani government, he steadfastly defended himself against these accusations.

In 2010, Anwar Advocate tragically suffered a heart attack and passed away while en route to his hometown of Mashkel. An unidentified passer-by rushed him to the hospital, where his identity remained initially unknown. Only later, a friend recognized him and made arrangements for his body to be transported to Mashkel for his final resting place.

Despite his death being attributed to a heart attack, the Baloch National Movement honored Anwar Advocate as a martyr in recognition of his extended struggle and sacrifice for the Balochistan freedom movement. In tribute to his services, the Kech Gwadar Zone has been named Shaheed Anwar Advocate by the BNM, serving as a constant reminder of his commitment and sacrifice for the cause.
