Geneva: During the 54th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, the Baloch National Movement’s Foreign Affairs Department concluded its three-day awareness campaign. The campaign, attended by BNM Chairman Dr. Naseem Baloch, Foreign Secretary Hamal Haider, and Central Committee members Haji Naseer Baloch, Faheem Baloch, Hatim Baloch, Niaz Baloch, and other members, aimed to draw attention to the ongoing human rights situation in Balochistan.

According to Niaz Baloch, a BNM Department of Foreign Affairs member, the BNM plans to launch a more comprehensive awareness campaign in Geneva in March of next year, further to shed light on the human rights situation in Balochistan. The aim is to ensure that the global community is well-informed about the situation in Balochistan.
As part of this campaign, BNM raised awareness about the recent military aggression by the Pakistan Army in Dera Bugti, the ongoing Baloch genocide, as well as other human rights violations such as enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings of Baloch leaders and others.

During the three-day campaign, a protest demonstration was held at the iconic Broken Chair, where supporters raised slogans in support of Balochistan and Sindh’s independence. Alongside BNM leaders, prominent Sindhi nationalist leader Dr. Lako Lohana and human rights activist Noor-e-Maryam Kanwar also joined the protest and voiced their views.

During the event, the speakers strongly emphasized that in recent weeks, there have been grave concerns regarding the actions of the Pakistani army towards the Baloch nation in Dera Bugti. They highlighted the intensified military aggression, the widespread reports of forced disappearances, and the rampant destruction of public properties.

‘ The ongoing series of atrocities perpetrated by Pakistan against the Baloch nation is not new. Since the occupation of Balochistan, the Baloch population has been systematically deprived of their basic human rights and subjected to relentless abuse and violence. ‘

They emphasized that Pakistan’s focus on Balochistan stems solely from Baloch’s desire to exploit its abundant resources without genuine concern for the development and well-being of the Baloch nation and its aspirations. Pakistan’s authorities prioritize acquiring Balochistan’s resources over the welfare of its inhabitants. Without the establishment of an independent Balochistan, it is unlikely that the restoration of human rights in the region can be achieved. Therefore, They urged the international community to support the Baloch national liberation movement to halt the ongoing genocidal acts against the Baloch nation.

The speakers said the rampant atrocities being committed not only in Balochistan but also in Sindh and Pakhtunkhwa against the Sindhi and Pashtun people. They urged that the guarantee of peace in the region was through achieving the freedom of all subjugated nations. They urged for the establishment of independent Balochistan and Sindhu Desh in order to pave the way for the development of both nations. The harmful effects of religious extremism continue to plague all societies dominated by Pakistan, with the epicenter in Punjab, but it is rapidly spreading its roots in subjugated nations as a means of suppressing national consciousness and reinforcing the so-called “two-nation ideology” of Pakistan. This flawed ideology caused extremist elements to proliferate in the region, resulting in devastating consequences. Rolling back this ideology is critical to the safety of all.
