Chairman of the Baloch National Movement Dr. Naseem Baloch has said that for the past six days, the relatives of the forcibly disappeared persons and the people of the area have been sitting on the Shaal-Taftan highway in Kardigap, district Mastung, Balochistan. Their loved ones have been forcibly disappeared by the state forces and they are waiting for justice.
Dr. Naseem Baloch stated that ten individuals, including businessmen, government employees, and students from the Sarpara tribe of Kardigap, have been forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces from different areas of Balochistan at various times. Among them is Abdul Malik Sarpara, a resident of Nushki and a black belt in karate, who was abducted from a karate club on August 25, 2011. Similarly, Ghulam Farooq Sarpara, the sole breadwinner of his family from Dera Murad Jamali, was taken on June 2, 2015. Jamil Ahmed Sarpara, who served as PRO to the Governor in the Balochistan government, was forcibly disappeared from his home in Saryab, Green Town, Shaal, on July 25, 2015.
Another businessman from Kardigap, Mir Taj Muhammad Sarpara, was abducted on July 19, 2020, while traveling to Karachi Airport, and no information has been provided about him since. Additionally, two brothers, Rashid Sarpara and Zakir Sarpara, were also forcibly disappeared by intelligence agencies—Rashid on December 18, 2021, and Zakir on August 30, 2021. Both remain missing to this day.
He said that Zahoor Sarpara and Sajjad Sarpara, cousins from the Sarpara family, were forcibly disappeared from Shaal in May 2021 and July 2021, respectively. Their families have been protesting for several years, demanding justice.
Additionally, Javed Shams, a law college student, was abducted by security forces from his home in Shaal on August 31, 2021, and has been missing ever since. Another victim, Shahnawaz Sarpara from Kardigap, was forcibly disappeared from the Mongachar area of Kalat in 2024.
Dr. Naseem Baloch stated that enforced disappearances carried out by Pakistani forces in Balochistan are a deep wound, one whose pain will inevitably shake the conscience of the world one day. Only those who endure this suffering can truly understand the anguish of the parents and relatives of the forcibly disappeared. Countless parents and loved ones have passed away after years of waiting in vain, longing for the return of their missing family members. Tragically, many took their last breath with the unfulfilled desire to see them one final time.
He said that the Kardigap protest sit-in is just a glimpse of the ongoing oppression in Balochistan. The families of those forcibly diapered are enduring extreme hardships, sitting on highways day and night, demanding the return of their loved ones.Despite their peaceful protest in the bitter cold, instead of delivering justice, the authorities are attempting to suppress their voices. Not only are they being ignored, but the administration is also resorting to intimidation and threats.
The local administration should understand that the Punjabi is the occupier and the clear enemy, but they themselves are the inhabitants of this land. They should think that they should not earn disgrace in history by contributing to the oppression against the Baloch people because every accomplice in the crime of oppression eventually faces public anger and wrath.
Dr. Naseem Baloch said that the Baloch National Movement fully understands that enforced disappearances are a deliberate state policy, and the state itself is responsible for this oppression. The Baloch people have been resisting this brutality for decades, and their struggle is not based on pleas or requests but on an undeniable historical truth: the days of oppression are always numbered, while resistance always remains.
