Chairman of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), Dr. Naseem Baloch, speaking at a party event in Shaal to mark August 11 – Balochistan’s Day of Renewal of Commitment (commemorating independence from Britain), said: “Before Pakistan’s illegal occupation, we had our own independent state.”

He recalled that on 27 March 1948, Pakistan forcibly occupied the Baloch homeland. Since then, thousands of Baloch men and women have sacrificed their lives in the struggle for national freedom, while thousands more remain in Pakistani prisons, enduring inhumane torture and prolonged confinement.

Dr. Naseem emphasized that despite relentless state aggression, the Baloch nation remains steadfast in its cause. “The freedom-loving people will bring an end to Pakistan’s occupation of Balochistan, and a bright dawn awaits our nation,” he said.

The event, marking the 78th anniversary of Balochistan’s independence from Britain, was chaired by BNM Shaal Zone Deputy Organizer Master Baloch. The proceedings began with the Baloch national anthem, followed by two minutes of silence in honor of Balochistan’s martyrs.

In his address, the Deputy Organizer noted that 78 years ago, Balochistan was liberated from British colonial rule, but only a few months later its freedom was taken away by a newly established state. He added that living nations preserve their independence, culture, and traditions, and when freedom is lost, they dedicate their very existence to regaining it.
