The Baloch National Movement (BNM) organized an international conference in The Hague, Netherlands, under the theme “The Case of Balochistan: Self-Determination and International Silence.” Human rights activists, journalists, and individuals from various fields participated in the event. The conference aimed to highlight the ongoing human rights violations in Balochistan at the international level.

Despite Large-Scale Atrocities in Balochistan, International Institutions Remain Mere Spectators – Dr. Naseem Baloch

Addressing the participants on the occasion, the BNM Chairman said that thousands of Baloch citizens have been forcibly disappeared, many of whose mutilated bodies were later found in deserted areas, while dozens of villages have been flattened through ground and aerial attacks. Despite such large-scale atrocities, the United Nations, the European Union, and other international bodies remain mere spectators, which is contrary to the universal values of human rights.

He stated that the atrocities being committed against the Baloch nation are not only grave violations of human rights but have taken the form of an organized genocide. Shaking the conscience of the world, he said that the Baloch nation is struggling for its survival, freedom, and sovereignty, and the world must hear their voice, stand in solidarity with them, and hold Pakistan accountable for these serious human rights violations.

The State is Looting Our Natural Resources Under an Organized Plan – Zali Wali, PTM

Zali Wali, an activist of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), strongly condemned the ongoing state oppression and brutality in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She said that the oppression against the Baloch and Pashtun nations has reached its peak—while genocide is taking place on one hand, the state is plundering our natural resources under an organized plan on the other. In Waziristan, entire villages are being deserted, youths are being forcibly disappeared, and these areas are being turned into military cantonments to silence the voice of the people forever.

She emphasized that the Baloch and Pashtun nations are bound together by historical, geographical, and cultural ties, and the time has come for us to stand together strongly in political, moral, and diplomatic arenas. She added that PTM stands with the Baloch nation at every forum where the voice of the oppressed is being suppressed.

Reaffirming her commitment, she said that PTM considers the Baloch nation’s struggle for freedom as part of its own struggle and will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with them—whether in the field, at human rights forums, before international institutions, or on the platforms of public movements, PTM will always be with the Baloch nation.

The State is Not Only Silencing the Baloch but Also Seeks to Erase Our Political Existence – Faheem Baloch, Foreign Secretary, BNM

BNM Foreign Secretary Faheem Baloch said that the situation in Balochistan has turned into a humanitarian crisis. He noted that perhaps words cannot fully convey the severity and gravity of the Baloch genocide taking place there, as what is happening has crossed all boundaries of human tragedy.

In this modern era, where the world is racing ahead in digital advancement, Balochistan is completely deprived of internet and communication facilities. This shutdown is not accidental—it is a deliberate plan by the state to silence the Baloch nation, prevent their voices from reaching the world, and conceal the atrocities committed there. The Pakistani state is not only trying to suppress the Baloch voice but, under a calculated plan, is also bent on erasing our identity, language, culture, and political existence.

He urged international institutions and human rights organizations to take serious notice of the current situation in Balochistan. Faheem Baloch said that if the world truly believes in universal human rights principles, then the time has come to abandon double standards, stand with the Baloch nation, and take effective and practical steps against state crimes.

Balochistan is the Image of Systematic Oppression That Can No Longer Be Ignored – Charlotte Zehrer, Human Rights Activist

Addressing the conference, human rights activist Charlotte Zehrer expressed deep concern over the grave human rights violations taking place in Balochistan. She said that what is happening in Balochistan is not just a series of isolated incidents, but rather an image of systematic oppression and brutality that can no longer be ignored.

She expressed regret that the silence of the international community is further empowering this brutality. Across the world, there are countless claims about human rights, but when it comes to Balochistan, the reality of those claims is exposed. The bitter truth is that atrocities are being committed in Balochistan, and the world has chosen to close its eyes.

She called on international bodies, human rights organizations, and every individual with a conscience to stand in solidarity with the Baloch nation, listen to their voices, and take effective, practical steps against this injustice—so that the Baloch nation can get justice and the dignity of humanity can be preserved.

History Teaches Us That Oppression Never Lasts, and the Voice of the Oppressed Crosses Borders – Andy Vermaut

Journalist Andy Vermaut expressed deep concern over the situation in Balochistan, stating that not only political activists but people from every walk of life are facing the oppression of Pakistani forces. He said that human rights violations in Balochistan are a tragic reality that cannot be denied, and unfortunately, every possible tactic is being used to silence the voices of the oppressed.

For speaking the truth and bringing facts to light, many Baloch journalists have either been killed or subjected to severe harassment. Many have been trapped in false cases, while others are forced to live in obscurity to this day. He remarked that in a region like Balochistan, the very idea of free journalism has itself become an act of resistance.

He stressed that raising one’s voice against oppression is a duty of humanity—whether that oppression is against the Baloch nation or the Pashtun nation—silence is never a solution. He said that history teaches us that oppression never lasts—no matter how strong the tyranny, truth ultimately prevails, and the voice of the oppressed crosses all borders.

Andy called on the global journalistic community, human rights bodies, and conscientious individuals to speak out against the ongoing oppression in Balochistan and to support those who are sacrificing their lives for truth and justice.

The Baloch Nation Has Always Rejected Oppression and Slavery, and Continues to Struggle for Freedom – Waheed Baloch

Addressing the conference, Waheed Baloch, Vice President of the Baloch National Movement (BNM) Netherlands Chapter, said that Balochistan was once an independent state where people lived according to their own will, took pride in their language, culture, and identity, and every individual had full control over their way of life. However, after Pakistan’s forcible occupation, the Baloch nation was stripped not only of its political freedom but also subjected to a systematic effort to erase its language, culture, and national identity.

He said that the Baloch nation has always rejected oppression and slavery, and even today, it continues its struggle for freedom, identity, and sovereignty. “We make it clear that our resistance will continue until the freedom of Balochistan is achieved,” he added.

Dutch Government and People Should Show Solidarity with the Baloch Nation – Muhamad Muheem

Speaking in Dutch at the conference, Muhamad Muheem said that what is happening in Balochistan is a severe humanitarian crisis that the international community can no longer ignore. He stated that grave human rights violations, enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and restrictions on freedom of expression are unacceptable in any civilized world.

He urged international institutions, the European Union, and the United Nations to take immediate notice of the situation in Balochistan and to take practical and effective action against the atrocities taking place there. He said that global silence not only empowers the oppressor but also deepens the wounds of the oppressed. He appealed to the Dutch people and government to stand in solidarity with the Baloch nation in light of universal principles of human rights, justice, and freedom, and to support them in this struggle.

Jamal Baloch and Zohra Baloch served as the hosts of the conference.
