The spokesperson of the Baloch National Movement (BNM) stated that the enforced disappearance of the BNM Chairman’s father and close relatives is neither an isolated nor an exceptional incident. Rather, it is part of a long-standing, systematic policy of collective punishment that has been imposed on the Baloch nation for decades. Across Balochistan, the families of political activists are deliberately targeted, and enforced disappearances have become a fundamental and persistent instrument of repression.
The spokesperson emphasized that for many years, the families of leaders and activists of the BNM and other political organizations have been subjected to continuous pressure, coercion, and collective punishment by the occupying state. The purpose of these actions is to silence political resistance through fear and intimidation. However, such tactics have failed to achieve their objectives.
He stated that BNM leaders and activists will not be intimidated by these methods. The Pakistani state is deeply alarmed by the BNM’s growing international diplomatic activities in support of the Baloch freedom movement. Under the leadership of Chairman Dr. Naseem Baloch, the Baloch national question has been effectively raised at international forums over the past years. As a result of the BNM’s sustained efforts, the Baloch national movement has gained increasing attention in European countries. In retaliation, the Pakistan Army has intensified pressure on the families of BNM leaders and activists.
The spokesperson noted that targeting the family of Chairman Dr. Naseem Baloch exposes the reality that even leaders and members of peaceful political parties in Balochistan are not safe from state repression and collective punishment. Persistent global inaction has emboldened the Pakistan Army to commit grave human rights violations with impunity. Without fear of accountability, civilians are being targeted, and systematic actions amounting to genocide against the Baloch nation are being carried out, with the Pakistan Army showing no regard for moral or legal boundaries.
He further stated that the BNM insists that Balochistan be recognized as an occupied and disputed territory, where the Baloch nation is struggling for its right to self-determination against an occupying force. Despite severe repression and the indiscriminate use of force, Pakistan has failed to suppress the Baloch freedom movement. After every attack by Baloch resistance fighters, the Pakistan Army vents its anger on ordinary civilians, while Pakistani politicians, instead of restraining the military, facilitate and support its actions.
The spokesperson added that the BNM will not remain silent in the face of Pakistan’s repression. A protest demonstration will be held in Germany on 7 February against ongoing human rights violations and enforced disappearances in Balochistan. In parallel, a coordinated online media campaign will be launched, including video statements, documentaries, posters, and digital programs, to raise awareness at both national and international levels.
Expressing serious concern over recent statements by Pakistani authorities, the spokesperson said that remarks by Pakistan’s Defence Minister and other officials regarding the deployment of additional troops in Balochistan have heightened fears that the already dire situation will further deteriorate. Pakistani officials and the puppet Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti are attempting, through their statements, to create the impression that the use of state force has been limited and justified, whereas the reality is the opposite. In fact, extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, drone attacks on civilian areas, aerial bombardment, restrictions on political, social, and academic activities, and the arbitrary arrest of political leaders and activists have become routine in Balochistan.
The spokesperson warned that threats of further military aggressions and open collective punishment raise serious concerns that Baloch society will be subjected to even harsher restrictions and repression.
Citing recent incidents, the spokesperson stated that in the early hours of 2 February, the Pakistan Army targeted the family of the Chairman of the Baloch National Movement in Hub, Balochistan. Following their arrest, the Chairman’s father, Muhammad Bakhsh Sajdi, his uncle Naeem Sajdi, and his maternal uncle, Engineer Rafiq Baloch, were forcibly disappeared.
In Gwader, the Pakistan Army attacked a residential house with heavy weapons, resulting in the deaths of 12 people, including women and children. Among the identified victims were Noor Muhammad Zehri, son of Mullah Jaurak, and his son Yasmeen.
In Pulabad, Turbat, the Pakistan Army fired mortar shells into civilian areas, killing 15-year-old Anas Baloch, son of Ibrahim.
For the past four days, internet services have been completely shut down across Balochistan, severing communication between many regions and the outside world, and making it extremely difficult to obtain information about civilian casualties caused by Pakistan Army actions.
According to verified reports, the Pakistan Army has carried out dozens of drone strikes in Nushkai district, targeting civilian populations. On 2 February, a drone strike in Jamaldini killed a three-year-old girl, Deedag, daughter of Abdullah Manan.
The spokesperson stated that the BNM appeals to the international community to urgently and seriously address the situation in Balochistan. Pakistan is deliberately misleading the international community to conceal the ongoing genocide against the Baloch nation. In its bid to seize control of Balochistan’s coastline, land, and natural resources, Pakistan is denying the Baloch nation its right to sovereignty and attempting to erase its national identity in order to perpetuate its occupation.
He warned that the international community’s double standards on human rights could further deepen the crisis in the region. The BNM demands that Pakistan be held accountable at the international level and that trade partnerships with Pakistan—particularly investments related to projects in Balochistan—be reviewed. Any delay in international intervention and the protection of human rights will further exacerbate this humanitarian crisis.
The spokesperson concluded by stating that, in response to recent events, the BNM will further expand its political, protest, and media activities. Coordinated and sustained protest demonstrations and media campaigns will be launched to highlight the situation in Balochistan. The more force the state employs, the stronger the resolve and determination of the BNM’s revolutionary cadre will become.
He added that the BNM’s Information, IT, and Cultural Department will continue to highlight Balochistan’s issues through regular weekly online programs. All chapters and zones will be included in consultations to improve media management, ensuring that the voice of the Baloch nation reaches the world more clearly and effectively.
