Paank, the human rights department of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), has released its January 2026 report, stating that the new year began with continued grave human rights violations in Balochistan. According to the report, multiple incidents of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings were recorded across various districts of Balochistan, as well as in Karachi, Sindh. A total of 82 cases of enforced disappearance were documented during the month, while 44 individuals were released after enduring severe physical and psychological torture. In the same period, 12 confirmed cases of extrajudicial killings were reported, further deepening the climate of fear and uncertainty in the region.

Those subjected to extrajudicial killings include Muhammad Anwar, Raahi Assa, Ayaz (son of Dost Muhammad), Zareef (son of Faqeer Muhammad), Zareef (son of Muhammad Yaqoob), Balach (son of Hamid), Zohaib Ahmed, Mulla Razzaq, Abdul Mutalib, Noman Haidar, Tahir Baloch, and Malang (son of Zahid Nadeem). Muhammad Anwar, a resident of Killi Safar Ali in Duki district, was taken into custody in June 2025; his body was recovered in January 2026. Minor Raahi Assa was shot dead in broad daylight in Hoshaap bazaar. The bullet-riddled bodies of Ayaz from Geshkaur (Awaran) and Zareef, son of Faqeer Muhammad, from Siahkal, Malar (Awaran), were recovered from the Nondara area of Awaran. Balach, a resident of Tasp (Panjgur), was shot dead in Tasp bazaar. Zareef, son of Muhammad Yaqoob, from Rekchahi, Kolwah (Awaran), was killed two hours after being abducted. Zohaib Ahmed was abducted and later killed after torture in Panjgur. The body of Mulla Razzaq, a resident of Newano Zamuran, was found in the Semsori Kaur (stream). Abdul Mutalib, from Killi Kamalo, Saryab (Shaal), was reportedly detained from his home on July 11, 2025, and later killed in what was described as a staged encounter in Dasht, Mastung, on January 19, 2026. Noman Haidar was taken into custody on November 19, 2025, from Mand (Kech), and his body was found in Tump on January 21, 2026. Tahir Baloch, a 21-year-old laborer, was shot dead on January 21, 2026, in Koshkalat, Tump. Similarly, 20-year-old Malang, son of Zahid Nadeem, was forcibly disappeared after being detained and was later found dead.

District-wise statistics show 26 cases in Kech, 16 in Shaal, 15 in Gwader, 9 in Kharan, 6 in Panjgur, 4 in Khuzdar, 2 in Lasbela, and 2 in Karachi, while one case each was reported in Dera Bugti and Nushki. The report also highlights allegations of home raids, arrests without warrants, and incommunicado detention at undisclosed locations, where detainees were reportedly subjected to torture.

According to Paank, these incidents reflect the worsening human rights situation in Balochistan. The organization states that the continued pattern of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings has effectively assumed the form of an unwritten law. It calls for transparent and independent investigations, identification of those responsible, and meaningful accountability measures to ensure justice for the victims’ families and to uphold the rule of law in Balochistan.
