The central spokesperson of Baloch National Movement paid homage to Shaheed Banuk Karima Baloch, former chairperson of Baloch Students Organization Azad and leader of Baloch National Movement on the occasion of her first anniversary and said that such personalities are born in centuries who give a new lease of life by transforming movements and societies. Shaheed Karima Baloch is one of them. She spent her life in the struggle against national slavery and gave a new lease of life to Baloch society. Shaheed conveyed the message of Baloch national struggle to the people with great courage. She visited the all corners of Balochistan, endured thousands of hardships and sufferings but instead of losing her hope, she preserved her resolve and perseverance. Due to her unflinching commitment and energy she emerged as a great political leader in a very short time.

The spokesperson of Baloch National Movement said that the state of Pakistan had inflicted heinous act of barbarism against Banuk Karima Baloch. In addition to the arrests, enforced disappearances and martyrdoms of political friends and comrades, her family was targeted. Her uncle Noor Ahmed was martyred and her house was attacked several times. The enemy, through its senseless actions, was thinking that Karima Baloch would withdraw from her struggle in awe of these atrocities. But the great Karima turned out to be much braver. Not only in the homeland but also in exile, Karima Baloch continued to raise effective voice for national liberation in the world. Pakistan had given a clear message that we can silence them there through our people but Banuk was more interested in national movement than fear from threat to her life. Instead of keeping silence, she raised her voice for Baloch national liberation in every forum. And surly her struggle was unacceptable to the enemy, and they assassinated Banuk Karima. But the life that was ended in Canada is, in reality, still alive today in the heartbeat and blood flow of every Baloch and oppressed people in Balochistan and around the world.

He further said that even after the assassination of Banuk Karima Baloch, the enemy did not stop its brutality. They not only abducted the coffin of Banuk Karima but also stopped people to attend her burial ceremony and pay homage to her. This proved how helpless, cowardly and inhumane our enemy is. But Banuk Karima had taught this lesson to every Baloch in her life that the defeat of the enemy lies in their brutality and barbarism.

The spokesperson said that Banuk Karima had immense love for her mother land. She could not see her land in the darkness. As long as she was here, she was engaged in the struggle against this darkness day and night. When the organization advised her to take a bitter sip of exile, he raised the awareness of the national right to freedom even abroad.

He added, “Slavery is darkness; a scary darkness. Karima Baloch, sacrificed her life against this darkness and for the attainment of light. Undoubtedly, she is Ruzhn-e-Balochistan.

The spokesperson said that the role she played for the revolutionary change in the Baloch society, today because of these revolutionary changes, Baloch women are becoming part of the struggle by throwing off the colonial shackles. They are spreading this light further, which keeps the occupying forces in awe.

The central spokesperson of Baloch National Movement said, as Baloch, we should study the political ideology and struggle of the martyr and focus on the need to take the national liberation struggle to other sections of the society. The life that the martyr gave to the society through her struggle needs to be maintained so that other women of the society can follow in the footsteps of the martyr and become more aware of their national responsibilities by giving more energy to the national movement.

At the end of his statement, the spokesperson said that the focus of Banuk Karima’s life and struggle was for the welfare and freedom of the Baloch people. Her life is an example for everyone living in Baloch society. In recognition of the political services and sacrifices of Banuk Karima Baloch, the Baloch Student Organization has declared the day of her martyrdom as “Baloch Women’s Day” and Baloch National Movement support this decision of Baloch Student Organization- Azad.
