Hannover, Germany – On the occasion of Eid, the Baloch National Movement (BNM) held a protest at Ernst-August Square in Hannover, Germany, condemning the enforced disappearance of Mahjabeen Baloch, the arbitrary arrests of Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) leaders, and the ongoing human rights violations in Balochistan.
Speakers at the demonstration drew global attention to the deteriorating human rights situation in Balochistan. While Eid is celebrated around the world with joy, they noted, people in occupied Balochistan are forced to spend the day protesting state oppression.
The protesters criticized the international community’s silence, calling it a form of complicity in what they described as systematic Baloch genocide and state-sponsored repression. They called on the United Nations and global human rights organizations to demand accountability from Pakistan and to impose sanctions in response to its ongoing violations of international human rights norms.
The speakers highlighted the long-standing suppression of the Baloch nation’s political voice by the Pakistani state, emphasizing the recent targeting of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) and its peaceful activists. Among them, Dr. Mahrang Baloch—widely regarded as a symbol of peaceful resistance—has faced repeated harassment and arrest.
The arrests of BYC leaders, including Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Sibghatullah, Beebow, Bebagr, and Gulzadi Baloch, were denounced as acts of political vengeance aimed at silencing nonviolent dissent. Protesters declared that these actions are not isolated incidents but part of a broader campaign to erase Baloch identity. Enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, exploitation of natural resources, and the destruction of cultural heritage, they said, amount to a slow and systematic genocide.
Those who addressed the gathering included Shar Hassan Baloch (President, BNM Germany Chapter), former president Asghar Baloch, Noroz Zafar, Salma Baloch, Nadeem Saleem Baloch, Sheraaz Baloch, and Shahrak Baloch.
