On the occasion of 11 August – the Pledge Renewal Day, the Baloch National Movement (BNM) organized small-scale gatherings at two different locations in Awaran Zone of BNM, attended by party members and supporters.
Speakers highlighted the historical significance of 11 August and paid homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Balochistan’s freedom. They emphasized that, through the sacrifices of its brave sons and daughters, the Baloch nation has earned a proud history of resistance and struggle.
The speakers stated that every nation under occupation faces dire circumstances, and the Baloch are no exception. Having resisted invaders in the past, they continue to resist Pakistani occupation today. The speakers compared Pakistan’s rule to earlier forces of plunder such as the Mongols, Berbers, and Mughals, noting that while those powers ultimately vanished, the Baloch prevailed in their fight for survival. They asserted that Pakistan’s current dominance over Baloch land and resources would also be defeated by national resistance, leading to Balochistan’s eventual freedom.
Referring to the British era, the speakers recalled that when the British failed to conquer Balochistan through force, they resorted to deceitful agreements to lease Baloch lands, later violating those agreements to occupy vast territories. Although the colonial period formally ended with the British withdrawal in August 1947, Pakistan carried forward the same colonial policies, acting as a guardian of British interests in the region. “Today, Pakistan exists as a colonial remnant, occupying Balochistan, stripping the Baloch nation of its freedom, and depriving it of all rights,” they said.
The BNM leaders urged the people to continue the national struggle with wisdom and political consciousness rather than mere emotions. They described BNM as a platform of intellectual and conscious struggle, which even the Sarmachars ( Freedom Fighters ) recognize as a political and ideological front. They concluded by declaring that through collective strength, the Baloch will resist slavery and convey to the world that they will never renounce their freedom.
