Speaking at an event held to mark International Human Rights Day, Paank Coordinator and BNM Central Committee member Hatim Baloch said that the Baloch nation has been stripped of its right to life and political participation, while its land and natural resources are being treated as spoils of war.
The gathering, organized by the Baloch National Movement (BNM), was attended by members of the BNM Shaheed Rashid Zone , Awaran. The chief guest was Hatim Baloch, while Zonal President Ustad Mehran and Zrumbesh Brahui editor Zeeshan Mannan also addressed the audience.
Hatim Baloch, speaking on the significance of 10 December, said: “Seventy-seven years ago, December 10 was recognized as International Human Rights Day. It was declared that all human beings are born free and equal in rights and dignity. Yet all our rights have been taken away from us.”
He added that they are not allowed to engage in politics and that the adversary is inflicting every form of oppression on them. According to him, the Pakistani state has used every tactic against the Baloch—from clerics and drug traffickers to armed groups and individuals such as Shafiq Mengal, Sameer Sabzal, and Rashid Pathan—to target the Baloch movement from all sides. “But these conspiracies have repeatedly failed,” he said, “because our comrades are fighting for human freedom and equality.”
Hatim Baloch expressed confidence: “The enemy spreads propaganda against us, but I am certain that a movement that has produced comrades like Raza, Kambar, and the Ghulam Mohammad cannot be defeated. Our struggle will one day reach its destination. We fight so that we may secure our rights. Our struggle is a response to tyranny. Pakistan is abducting our children, killing our people, burning our homes, and collectively punishing the Baloch nation.”
Zonal President Ustad Mehran said that the very countries that speak of human rights are often the worst violators of them. Global powers do not consider the Baloch human because the weak are never given attention. History shows that while human rights movements were rising on one side, on the other side world powers were implementing policies against humanity—speaking of peace and justice while spilling human blood.
He added , The same is happening in Balochistan today. The Baloch struggle for national freedom, self-determination, peace, and justice continues, while Pakistan, along with global powers such as China, the U.S., and major international corporations, supports policies enabling Baloch genocide. Despite being aware of the Baloch issue, the U.S. announced financial packages for Pakistan’s Reko Diq project on the fourth day, proving that both the U.S. and China are funding Pakistan despite its actions against humanity and the Baloch nation.
Editor Zeeshan Mannan said that when the British colonized nations, they declared the people they ruled inferior—and today the occupying state treats the Baloch in the same way. Global powers and human rights organizations are aware of the atrocities committed against us. They may pressure the occupying state, but it will act only in accordance with its own interests.
The speakers collectively stated that human rights issues in Balochistan are deeply tied to its political situation. As long as Balochistan remains unfree, no power can stop Pakistan from committing these violations. We call on human rights organizations and the nations of the world to view Pakistan for what it is—an occupying force violating human rights.
