Geneva, Switzerland – A delegation from the Baloch National Movement (BNM), consisting of Faheem Baloch, Niaz Baloch, and accompanied by Yousuf Baloch, met with Dr. Elisa Morgera, the UN Special Rapporteur on Climate Change and Human Rights, to discuss ongoing environmental and human rights issues in Balochistan.

The delegation briefed the Working Group on the impact of Pakistan-China multibillion-dollar projects on the environment and climate change in Balochistan. They also shared recent data on human rights violations.

Climate activist Yousuf Baloch, who was part of the delegation, highlighted the alarming effects of climate change in Balochistan. The delegation stressed that the climate crisis in the region is not a natural occurrence but man-made.

In response, the Working Group on Environment and Human Rights assured the delegation that they would compile a comprehensive report on these pressing issues and intensify their efforts to hold Pakistan accountable.

The group also pledged to coordinate further with the BNM and other relevant organisations to address this critical environmental and human rights crisis.

BNM has launched an extensive diplomatic campaign in Geneva this month to raise global awareness about the issues facing Balochistan, which will continue into the next month. As part of this campaign, meetings were held with various United Nations representatives to highlight the challenges in Balochistan.
