The Baloch National Movement (BNM) recently launched a comprehensive awareness campaign in several major cities across the United Kingdom to shed light on the ongoing struggle for freedom in Balochistan, severe human rights violations, and state repression. The campaign aimed to raise global awareness of the forced disappearances, violence against political activists, and other atrocities taking place in the region.
Kicking off on April 17 at the iconic Trafalgar Square in London, the campaign continued with events on April 19 at Oxford City Centre, April 21 at Kings Parade in Cambridge, April 25 at Buchanan Street in Glasgow, and concluded on April 27 in Manchester. Over 5,000 informational leaflets were distributed by BNM activists , who also engaged directly with passersby, informing them of the critical situation in Balochistan.
A central focus of the campaign was the recent state crackdown on leaders of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC). These leaders were unlawfully arrested, subjected to physical and psychological torture, and faced the imposition of fabricated charges. This issue became the centerpiece of the campaign, with BNM seeking to bring the international community’s attention to the human rights abuses unfolding in Balochistan.
According to the organization, the campaign served not only as a platform to highlight the ongoing atrocities faced by the people of Balochistan but also as a serious effort to draw global attention to these issues and urge international institutions to take action on the worsening situation in the region.
