Dr. Deen Muhammad Baloch, a professional doctor and the leader of the Baloch National Movement, has been forcibly missing for 14 years after being abducted by Pakistani intelligence agencies for his role in the Baloch national struggle.

In a statement issued on the anniversary of Dr. Deen Mohammad Baloch’s force disappearance, the chairman of the Baloch National Movement (BNM) Dr. Naseem Baloch said that the state’s coercive tyranny in Balochistan is intensifying day by day.

He said Dr. Deen Mohammad Baloch was a member of the Central Committee of BNM and a political figure in the Baloch movement. He was kept in secret prisons for raising his voice for the Baloch nation for years.

He said that on June 28, 2009, Pakistani intelligence agencies forcibly disappeared Dr. Baloch from the residential quarter of the hospital where he was on duty in the Haurnaach area of Khuzdar district. This policy of the occupying state of Pakistan has led to a human rights crisis in Balochistan, with more than 40,000 Baloch people kidnapped and forcibly disappearing and the collective lives of as many families destroyed.

He said that the family of Dr. Deen Mohammad had also tried all legal means, but despite the passage of 14 years, they had received no news or information about him. On the first day, they filed an FIR of his disappearance at the Haurnaach police station and started a struggle for his safe recovery. His daughters Sammi Baloch and Mehlab Baloch had grown up during press clubs and protests to recover him. Sammi Baloch marched 2,500 kilometers from Shaal to Karachi and from Karachi to Islamabad to recover her father. In these 14 years, they had achieved nothing but false assurances and meetings with the courts, the commission and even the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan.

He said that the criminal silence of human rights institutions had worsened the human rights crisis in Balochistan, where thousands of families were losing hope in them.

He once again requested human rights organizations to take immediate notice of this human rights crisis on the Baloch land and to play their full role in the survival of humanity in Balochistan by putting pressure on the state for the safe release of Dr. Deen Mohammad Baloch and thousands of other Baloch.
