Shaal – The Baloch National Movement (BNM)’s Human Rights Department, Paank, has released its September 2024 report, highlighting a disturbing rise in human rights violations in Balochistan. The report records 41 cases of enforced disappearances and 3 extrajudicial killings, with 25 torture victims primarily targeted by Pakistani military and intelligence agencies.

Paank condemned the ongoing atrocities, stating, “The enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and inhumane treatment of Baloch civilians reflect a deliberate campaign of violence against the Baloch nation by Pakistani forces. This is not just a violation of human rights but a systematic genocide that demands immediate international intervention.” The organization further expressed concern that, “Many of those forcibly disappeared have faced severe torture, and their mutilated bodies are often found days or weeks later.”

In addition to the disappearances, the report details the brutal killings of two brothers, Muhammad Ismail (20) and Muhammad Abbas (17), who were abducted from their home in Kalat by Pakistani security forces and later found dead. Another tragic case involves Hekmatullah Baloch, who was shot during a peaceful protest in Nushkay and succumbed to his injuries in a Karachi hospital in September 2024.

Paank also addressed Pakistan’s use of the Fourth Schedule policy, which has led to thousands of political activists, students, doctors, and professionals being placed under surveillance and falsely accused of ties to pro-liberation armed organizations. “This policy has effectively legalized the persecution of peaceful activists,” the statement read, “and gives state forces a free hand to detain, torture, and even kill without consequence.”

Paank’s statement concludes with a strong call for global accountability: “We demand that the international community investigate these war crimes and hold the Pakistani state responsible for the Baloch genocide. The evidence is overwhelming, and the world can no longer remain silent.
