Poster: Suicides in Balochistan

Economic resources are limited in Balochistan. Every few kilometres there are check posts of the Pakistan army which harass people without any reason.

The army has made people economically dependent on military officers by capturing major economic activities such as fishing and border trade.

While daily raids on houses and violence have left a large section of the population in despair and mental distress; due to this people are committing suicide.

This year four people committed suicide due to direct violence by the Pakistan army.

❶ Chakar Majeed (March 10, 2022)

He was a student in class 9. He was forcibly disappeared by the Pakistan Army. After his release Army pressured him to become a spy for the military; due to severe psychological pressure from the army, he chose the path of suicide.

❷ Muheem Asumi ( August 30, 2022)

He was forcibly disappeared and tortured by Pakistan Army, which affected his mental health, and he committed suicide.

❸ Amirzadi Yalanzahi ( November 10, 2022)

Two family members of Amirzadi forcibly disappeared by Pakistan Army. And their house was raided for several nights continuously. Amirzadi committed suicide due to mental stress.

❹ Lutfullah Yalanzahi ( November 10 , 2022)

Amirzadi’s husband Lutfullah Yalanzahi committed suicide by shooting himself after his wife’s suicide.
