It is imperative that we recognize the importance of collective efforts and institutionalize our party for long-term stability.

Kech Gwader Zone

Turbat: The Baloch National Movement (BNM) established a new zone named ‘Shaheed Anwar Advocate Zone Kech-Gwader’ in a meeting presided over by Dr. Naseem Baloch, the chairman of BNM. A five-member organizing committee was appointed for the newly formed zone, and Muhammad Iqbal Baloch, Social Welfare Secretary of BNM, was the special guest of the meeting.

Dr. Jalal Baloch, Senior Vice Chairman of BNM, informed members of their duties while the Secretary of Culture and Information, Qazi Dad Muhammad Rehan, updated members on BNM’s progress. Senior member Muhammad Anwar Baloch suggested the name for the organizing committee and the Kech-Gwader zone, which was then approved by a majority vote.

The Chairman of BNM addressed the meeting, congratulating the members on the establishment of the new zone. He expressed hope that the new zone of BNM would play an important role in the progress of the party.

He urged all party organizations to collaborate towards achieving the party’s objectives and to identify individuals with similar beliefs and link them with BNM. It is imperative that we recognize the importance of collective efforts and institutionalize our party for long-term stability. We must fulfill our duties diligently to pave the way for future members to thrive.

He suggested that we reflect on our progress over the last decade and identify any areas where we may have stagnated. If we have not made significant progress, it is a weakness we must address. However, he commended the outstanding performance of various institutions within BNM.

He said that following the BNM session, several new institutions were incorporated into the constitution. Although it might not be feasible to activate all of them simultaneously, even if we can initiate one institution during our tenure, it would be a substantial achievement. However, we were able to activate several new institutions, which is a positive development. It is incumbent upon all members to work collaboratively toward the development and stability of these institutions.

During this occasion, BNM senior member Muhammad Anwar Baloch illuminated the life of the Shaheed Anwar Advocate.

Photos and brief introduction of Shaheed Anwar Advocate

He said Shaheed Anwar Advocate was a prominent political figure and activist hailing from Balochistan. Born in Mashkal, he was actively engaged in politics from his early student years. He pursued his law degree in the Soviet Union and was associated with the Baloch Students Organization (Shobh) during his time there.

According to Muhammad Anwar, upon his return to Balochistan after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Anwar Advocate commenced his legal practice in the Chagai district. He maintained close bonds with his political allies, with a particularly strong connection to Shaheed Ghulam Muhammad Baloch. Sharing a common ideology and intellectual harmony, Anwar Advocate aligned himself with Ghulam Muhammad Baloch’s Balochistan National Movement (BNM).

‘‘In the 2004 council session, Anwar Advocate was elected as the Deputy Secretary General of the BNM. He played an active role in the protests that swept through Balochistan following the martyrdom of Shaheed Akbar Khan Bugti at the hands of the Pakistani army in 2006. Despite false arrest warrants issued by the Pakistani government, he steadfastly defended himself against these accusations.’’

According to Muhammad Anwar, in 2010, Anwar Advocate tragically suffered a heart attack and passed away while en route to his hometown of Mashkail. An unidentified passer-by rushed him to the hospital, where his identity remained initially unknown. Only later, a friend recognized him and made arrangements for his body to be transported to Mashkail for his final resting place.

Despite his death being attributed to a heart attack, the Baloch National Movement honored Anwar Advocate as a martyr in recognition of his extended struggle and sacrifice for the Balochistan freedom movement. In tribute to his services, the Kech-Gwader Zone has been named Shaheed Anwar Advocate by the BNM, serving as a constant reminder of his commitment and sacrifice for the cause.
