Amsterdam – The Baloch National Movement (BNM) staged a protest in Amsterdam against the arrest and torture of Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) leaders, including Dr. Maahrang Baloch and Bebagr Baloch, by Pakistani authorities. The demonstration was attended by activists from the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), who expressed solidarity with the Baloch struggle.
Protesters carried placards and images of forcibly disappeared individuals, condemning ongoing human rights violations in Balochistan. Speakers highlighted the recent crackdown on a peaceful BYC rally in Shaal, where Pakistani forces opened fire on demonstrators, resulting in three deaths and numerous injuries. They stated that Dr. Maahrang Baloch, Bebagr Baloch, and several other activists were arrested and taken to an undisclosed location, with communication networks also disrupted in the region.
BNM leaders criticized the Pakistani state for its systematic repression in Balochistan, where enforced disappearances have continued for decades, leaving thousands missing without any information provided to their families. They also noted that Pashtun activists face similar persecution, with PTM leader Ali Wazir and others in state custody for opposing human rights violations.
Speakers urged international human rights organizations and the global community to take immediate action against the ongoing oppression of Baloch and Pashtun nations.
Among those who addressed the protest were BNM Netherlands President Mhuheem Abdul Rahim, Vice President Waheed Baloch, Dr. Abdul Latif Baloch, Mahira Baloch, Ruqayya Baloch, Wahid Baloch, Nabi Baloch. PTM activists Zar Khan Afridi, Jamal Baloch, Shari Baloch, and Mahmad Baloch also participated in the demonstration.
