The spokesperson of the Baloch National Movement has strongly condemned the killing of Sindhi nationalist leader Hidayat Lohar, asserting that the Pakistani state is systematically targeting and executing individuals with nationalistic ideologies. This sinister plan, according to the spokesperson, aims to obliterate the national wisdom of the subjugated people. The trend of extrajudicial actions began in Balochistan in 2009 with the forced disappearance of Baloch National Movement leader Shaheed Waja Ghulam Muhammad, BRP central leader Sher Muhammad, and BNM Central Committee member Shaheed Lala Munir, whose mutilated bodies were callously discarded. This pattern has since expanded to Sindh and Pakhtunkhwa, affecting thousands of individuals from various ethnic groups who held nationalistic views, leading to their extrajudicial killings or forced disappearances.
The spokesperson emphasized that Hidayat Lohar’s murder is a continuation of the ruthless actions by the Pakistani army against the national identity of subjugated nations, victimizing innocent and peaceful advocates.
Furthermore, the spokesperson urged the subjugated nations to unite and channel their efforts toward the pursuit of freedom from Pakistan, emphasizing the need for a collective struggle in the right direction. Mere protests and appeals for justice are insufficient; The only way is to struggle for freedom.
It is worth noting that on Friday, February 16, 2024, Sindhi nationalist leader and primary teacher Hidayat Lohar was targeted and killed by personnel from Pakistani agencies in Naseerabad, Sindh. He had been actively involved in advocating for the recovery of enforced disappearances, having been a victim of enforced disappearance himself in the past. His daughters, Surath Lohar and Sassui Lohar, are prominent leaders of the Voice for Missing Persons of Sindh.
