The spokesperson for the Baloch National Movement (BNM) has issued a statement regarding the enforced disappearance of Wahid Bakhsh, also known as Ustad Wahid Kambar, son of Aali. A prominent leader and pioneer of the Baloch National Movement for liberation, Ustad Kambar was abducted by Pakistani intelligence agencies on July 19, 2024, while in neighboring Iran, and has been forcibly disappeared since. Ustad Wahid Kambar Baloch has dedicated his entire life to resisting Pakistan’s forced occupation and the oppression of Balochistan. The entire Baloch nation stands united in condemning his abduction and demands his immediate recovery and the restoration of his legal rights.

The spokesperson said that Ustad Wahid Kambar has always been clear in his political objectives, and his struggle is well known. It is his legal and human right to be treated as a prisoner and for his rights to be respected in accordance with international laws governing national freedom movements and wars of independence against forced occupation and colonialism. It should be remembered that Ustad Wahid Kambar Baloch has previously endured the inhumane ordeal of extrajudicial arrest, enforced disappearance, torture, and imprisonment on false charges by the Pakistan army. Following his release, he resumed his leadership role in the movement for the freedom of Occupied Balochistan.

Calling on the International Committee of the Red Cross, the party spokesperson emphasized that international laws clearly outline the rights of prisoners of war. Therefore, we urge the Red Cross, as an international organization dedicated to this cause, to recognize Ustad Wahid Kambar as a prisoner of war and to actively work toward raising awareness of his case and ensuring his rights are upheld.

The spokesperson stated that Ustad Wahid Kambar is an elderly person reportedly suffering from several health issues, including heart disease, which require ongoing medical supervision and medication. The Red Cross must intervene to ensure his swift recovery and facilitate his reunion with his family. Any delay in this process could endanger his life.

The spokesman asserted that the Baloch national independence movement against Pakistan’s occupation of Balochistan is an undeniable reality that Pakistan cannot conceal. After failing on both political and military fronts against the Baloch freedom movement, Pakistan has resorted to inhumane tactics, including acts of genocide, against the Baloch nation. These tactics involve indiscriminate bombing of civilian areas, forced displacement of communities, burning of homes and properties, enforced disappearances, torture in secret detention centers, extrajudicial killings, dumping of mutilated remains, and the killing of detainees through staged encounters. These actions represent genocidal crimes committed by Pakistan against the Baloch nation.

The genocidal acts committed by Pakistan against the Baloch nation are not confined to occupied Balochistan. Baloch individuals who have fled Pakistani oppression, tyranny, and genocide have also become targets of Pakistan’s inhumane policies worldwide. Before the recent abduction of Wahid Kambar Baloch by Pakistani agents, several prominent Baloch figures were martyred by Pakistani operatives. These include former BSO-Azad chairperson Karima Baloch in Canada, journalist Sajid Hussain in Sweden, and Balach Marri, Ustad Aslam Baloch, Chunka Mir Abdul Nabi Bagulzai, and Engineer Abdul Raziq Baloch in Afghanistan. These targeted killings of Baloch leaders and refugees illustrate Pakistan’s ongoing crimes against the Baloch nation, extending beyond its borders. Similarly, Pakistani agents have martyred dozens of Baloch individuals within neighboring Iran.Notable incidents include a missile attack on the home of BNM leader Dosta Baloch and other Baloch individuals in Sham Sar, Iranian territory, resulting in the deaths of women and children.

The spokesman stated that Pakistan is using these criminal tactics against the Baloch worldwide, including in neighboring countries, to suppress the independence movement by targeting and eliminating the leadership of the Baloch struggle. This policy of Pakistan violates the laws and principles of war and human rights and cannot be justified in any way. These are crimes against humanity committed by the state of Pakistan, for which it must be held accountable at the global level.
