The central spokesperson of the Baloch National Movement has said that March 27, 1948 is a dark day in the history of the Baloch nation. The Baloch nation has always observed it as a black day. Seventy-four years ago, on this day, Balochistan was occupied by Pakistan through military force. Since then the Baloch have been living a life of slavery as a nation and for seventy four years occupying Pakistan has been committing horrific stories of the worst violence and oppression in Balochistan.

The spokesperson said that from the very beginning, Pakistan wanted Balochistan to be annexed but the two houses of the Baloch Parliament, Darul Amra (Upper House) and Darul Awam (Lower House) unanimously decided that we will maintain our national independence and will not join Pakistan at any cost. However, we will establish friendly relations with Pakistan as a responsible neighbor.

He said that Pakistan had proved from the very beginning that it is an aggressive and expansionist state formed by the intention and conspiracy of the British by invading the Baloch lands by carrying out military operations against the decisions of the Baloch Parliament. For this state, the democratic decisions, values and international laws of the nations have no meaning.

He said that the Baloch had consciously started a struggle from day one to regain their national independence. It started with the resistance of Prince Agha Abdul Karim and his comrades and is still going on. In this struggle, thousands of children, elders, mothers and daughters of the Baloch nation have sacrificed their lives and property.

The spokesman said that the involvement of Baloch youth, Baloch women and people from all walks of life in the ongoing struggle in Balochistan has left Pakistan in such a state of bewilderment that it is now not refraining from even the most heinous tactics. These include serious human rights violations and war crimes, in particular the abduction and martyrdom of women, as well as the disappearance and martyrdom of the families of Baloch activists and fighters as a collective punishment.

He said that the Pakistani state in its unsuccessful efforts to crush and suppress this movement has made thousands of people from Balochistan forcibly disappeared and put them in dark dungeons, while thousands have been extrajudicially killed after being forcibly disappeared. The oppressive state has always tried to maintain its sovereignty by creating an atmosphere of fear in the hearts and minds of the people of the occupied territories but history has shown that nations have not been subdued and defeated in this way. Defeat has always been the destiny of the occupier.
