Forty-four people were disappeared and 5 were martyred in more than 50 military operations in the month of February. More than 200 houses were looted and 50 homes were burnt during the same month. In addition eighteen dead bodies were recovered from Balochistan.

Baloch National Movement’s Central Information Secretary, Dil Murad Baloch, issued the report for the month of February 2020. The report states that during the month of February, Pakistani forces continued their offensive and carried out more than 50 military operations in Balochistan. During the operations, the forces looted more than 200 homes and burnt more than 50 of them. These incidents took place in Awaran, Jhaoo, and Dera Bugti. During the same month, the forces detained dozens of people and shifted them to unknown locations, but due to the ongoing operations and military’s blockade of the region, only full data of 44 abductees were received.

He said that in the same month eighteen dead bodies were recovered in Balochistan. Two Baloch were arbitrary shot dead by the forces. Two persons were killed by police in a fake encounter and another two by proxies of Pakistan in Western Balochistan, and one by the drug dealers. One dead body could not be identified and the motives for the deaths of eleven could not be ascertained. 5 people were released from torture cells of the security forces of Pakistan during the month of February. Among them, one had been missing since 2016, two persons since 2017 and one had been missing since 2019.

Dil Murad Baloch said that military operations were continued throughout Balochistan including Kech, Dasht, Awaran, Jhaoo, Mashkay, Dera Bugti, Noshki. On the one hand, Pakistan Army is propagating the release of missing persons as a counter insurgence tactic to win hearts and minds, and to improve the image of the forces in Balochistan. On the other hand, the Pakistan army, intelligence agencies, and the Death Squads have been playing parallely with the lives and honor of the Baloch nation for the past seven decades. It has only gotten worse over time. A major genocide is underway in Balochistan which has shaped as humanitarian tragedy.

Dil Murad Baloch said that international laws, human values, and traditions of subjugated nations have been trampled on by the Pakistani forces. In Balochistan, on one hand, the Pakistani army, intelligence agencies, and the criminals are wreaking havoc on the people and on the other hand, the state is nurturing religious fanatics enthusiastically, so that the secular nature of the Baloch society is changed into a religious fanatic one.

He said that Balochistan is deprived of media and has as well turned into an information black hole. The voices of those persecuted by the army disappear into this black hole and the world prefers not to hear them. In war-torn regions, the disregard and ignorance of the international and free media and neutral observers causes an increase in the suffering of the victims. This has been happening in Balochistan over the past two decades. Pakistan has blocked access to international media. That is why it is difficult for a free and civilized world to care about the atrocities being perpetuated even in this modern age.

Dil Murad Baloch said that the human rights organizations and the UN have a duty to take practical steps to curb Pakistani barbarism in Balochistan. Otherwise, the human blood will continue to flow and humanitarian tragedy will further intensify.
