The spokesman of the Baloch National Movement said in his statement that people in Balochistan were forced to commit suicide due to the aggression of the Pakistan army. The suicide of Ajaab Yelanzhai’s brother Lutfullah Yelanzhai and his wife in Kharan was the result of state repression.

He added, “These are not suicides but murders.” in Balochistan, Pakistani forces are forcing people to commit suicide. So far this year, four people have committed suicide as a result of military violence.

He said that despite the forced disappearance of Ajaab Yelanzhai by the CTD on October 23 and the arrest of his maternal uncle Shafqat Yelanzhai on the false charge of killing retired Justice Miskan Noor Zhai, Pakistani forces were continuously raiding Ajaab Yelanzhai’s house. Physical and mental violence was inflicted on the family members. Tired of this, the wife of young Lutfullah Yelanzhai committed suicide, on which her grieving husband also ended his life.

The spokesperson of BNM said Chakar Majeed had committed suicide as a result of the pressure of the Pakistan army in the Sarinkan area of Kech.

He said that three years ago on March 2019, Pakistani forces detained Chakar in Sarinkan and forcibly missing for ten months and released him after severe mental and physical torture. Even after his release, the army did not let him go free. The Pakistan army kept calling Chakar Majeed to the camp and pressurizing him to work against the Baloch freedom movement.

He said that Chakar Majeed took his life when the army called him to the camp, took away his mobile phone and gave him another mobile phone with SIM and a spying device to monitor his movements. But instead of being used as a spy for the army, he embraced a tragic death.

On August 30, 2022 (this year), Maheem son of Asmi also committed suicide, who was forced to disappear by the Pakistani army in March 2014. His mental and physical health had badly deteriorated due to the torture which eventually made him despair of life. After the Pakistan military’s treatment of prisoners in torture cells, it takes years for victims to recover, and many were without adequate facilities. And due to the lack of treatment, they cannot get out of its effects for life and find suicide the only way to get rid of this torment.

According to unofficial data, 56 people have committed suicide in Balochistan this year, with the highest number of suicides have occurred in the Kech district of Makuran division.

BNM Spokesman

He said that the trend of suicide in Balochistan has increased to a dangerous level and has become a social problem. According to Balochistan Police, 80 people committed suicide last year, while this year, according to media records, 14 people have committed suicide so far, which is only a quarter of the total number.

According to unofficial data, 56 people have committed suicide in Balochistan this year, with the highest number of suicides have occurred in the Kech district of Makuran division. Experts say that the situation in Balochistan, the repression of the Pakistan army and the lack of interest in the social affairs of the puppet government of the Pakistan army in Balochistan have left people frustrated, resulting in an increase in the tendency to suicide. Most of the suicide victims are young people, while women are also committing suicide in large numbers.
