Netherlands: The Baloch National Movement (BNM) held a protest rally and demonstration against Pakistan’s nuclear weapons tests in Balochistan.

During the rally, the protesters carried placards and banners with slogans condemning Pakistan’s nuclear weapons tests, the genocide of the Baloch nation, and the nuclear explosions in the Chagai area of Balochistan on May 28, 1998.

Baloch National Movement activist Dr. Latif Baloch addressed the protesters, stating that May 28 is a dark day for Balochistan and the Baloch nation. He explained that the nuclear tests in Chagai have severely harmed both the environment and human health, leading to increased cases of cancer, skin diseases, lung and liver diseases, typhoid, and other deadly illnesses.

Dr. Latif Baloch emphasized that the purpose of the protest is to highlight the detrimental effects of the nuclear tests in Balochistan on a global level. He also stated that Pakistan has threatened world security by assisting other countries in acquiring nuclear power.

Aalia Baloch, another Baloch National Movement activist, mentioned that agriculture in Chagai is non-existent due to radiation and underground pollution caused by the nuclear explosions. She accused Pakistan of pursuing a policy of Baloch genocide from the beginning and called for strict and permanent measures from the international community to prevent such dangerous experiments in the future.

Addressing the participants, Mahira Baloch said that Pakistan portrayed itself as powerful through the nuclear explosions in Chagai, but these tests inflicted severe harm on the human population in Chagai due to environmental pollution and radiation-related diseases, forcing residents to migrate.

Zahra Baloch highlighted that the Baloch nation has faced decades of oppression and brutality by the Pakistani state. She noted that the population in Chagai has been severely affected by the explosions, with cancer and paralysis of hands and feet being common among children born there. She stated that Pakistan is not afraid of repercussions because it has never been held accountable for its actions in Balochistan, which raises serious questions for the global community.

Basit Baloch criticized the international community’s silence and indifference towards Pakistan’s nuclear weapons tests in Chagai and other parts of Balochistan. He stated that Pakistan has turned Balochistan into a laboratory for missile tests and nuclear weapons development, posing a significant threat to world peace.
