Veteran human rights activist Peter Tatchell, speaking at a Baloch National Movement (BNM) protest outside the United Nations in Geneva, has called for international sanctions on Pakistan over its treatment of the Baloch nation. Tatchell, who has supported the Baloch liberation movement for over a decade, condemned Pakistan’s occupation of #Balochistan since 1948 and highlighted the ongoing human rights violations, including forced disappearances, torture, and extrajudicial killings.
Tatchell urged Western governments to halt military aid to Pakistan, accusing the country of using the aid to suppress the Baloch people. He also called on the Commonwealth to suspend Pakistan for violating its charter and human rights principles.
“Pakistan’s political and military leaders must be held accountable for war crimes and crimes against humanity,” Tatchell stated, emphasizing the need for global action to support the Baloch national liberation struggle.
