Baloch Martyrs’ Day: Balochistan Will Be Free Soon Thanks to Sacrifices – Addresses by Nasir Baloch and Hanif Baloch

If we consider ourselves the rightful heirs of this land, we must be willing to sacrifice everything, including our lives, for it.

Since the martyrdom of Shaheed Khan Mehrab Khan, the sacrifices of the Baloch nation have continued and will persist until the land achieves independence. Just yesterday, Sarmachars were martyred, as they were two days before. On this path, whether it is activists or leaders who are martyred, each person stands as their own replacement, and no one can take another’s place.

Nasir Baloch, Central Finance Secretary of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), expressed these sentiments while addressing a BNM event on the occasion of Baloch Martyrs’ Day.

The program began with a two-minute silence in memory of the martyrs, followed by the Baloch National Anthem. In addition to Nasir Baloch, Hanif Baloch, a member of the BNM Central Committee, also addressed the gathering.

BNM Cabinet Member Nasir Baloch highlighted that freedom comes at a high cost, often demanding the ultimate sacrifice, underscoring its true value as people willingly give their lives for it. He quoted the immortal Baloch leader, Wajah Ghulam Muhammad, who often said that while we honor and salute a national martyr after their sacrifice, we must also reflect on why we do not envision and choose this path for ourselves.

“Today’s movement is different from those of the past because its leaders have sacrificed alongside the activists, guiding us on the same path,” Nasir remarked.

He further stated that the leaders who founded this movement, Shaheed Ghulam Muhammad, Shaheed Lala Munir, and other comrades, have either been martyred or are forcibly missing. However, today’s movement faces fewer challenges because these leaders paved the way for us and played a far more significant role than we have. While the demands of the struggle evolve over time, the sacrifices of these leaders have established our cause on solid institutional foundations, enduring for more than twenty years. Today’s political institutions owe their existence to the efforts and dedication of Shaheed Ghulam Muhammad and his associates.

Nasir emphasized that the Baloch have lived on this land for thousands of years, and if we consider ourselves the rightful heirs of this land, we must be willing to sacrifice everything, including our lives, for it.

He explained that even the British could not fully occupy Balochistan, and after their withdrawal, Balochistan declared its complete independence. However, Pakistan later occupied Balochistan through military force, with the assistance of some traitorous Sardars and officials. “We have no connection with the state of Pakistan; our traditions and language do not align with theirs. While we share historical ties and closeness with Sindh and Afghanistan, we have no such connection with Punjab. The Baloch have never accepted this forced occupation and have resisted it from day one,” Nasir declared.

BNM central committee member Hanif Baloch urged the attendees to pledge to remain steadfast on the path of their national martyrs and complete their unfinished work. “The Baloch nation has always resisted oppressors, made sacrifices, and driven them from our land. Once again, the Baloch have chosen the path of resistance, making sacrifices and fighting against the occupying forces of Pakistan,” he affirmed.
