The Baloch National Movement (BNM) launched a three-day awareness campaign across various cities in the Netherlands, including Eindhoven, Utrecht, The Hague, Amsterdam, and Zwolle. The campaign aimed to highlight the plight of occupied Balochistan, the Baloch national freedom movement, and the severe hardships inflicted upon the Baloch nation by the occupier Pakistani state.
The campaign prominently highlighted the 17-year enforced disappearance of Dr. Deen Mohammad Baloch. It also shed light on Pakistan’s judicial crackdown against human rights defenders in occupied Balochistan, the life sentences handed down to Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Sibghatullah Baloch on fabricated charges, and the Pakistan Army’s weaponization of the courts as a tool of oppression to endanger the lives of activists like Balach Qadir and others.
Dr. Deen Mohammad has been a victim of enforced disappearance in the custody of the Pakistan Army for the past 17 years, and his family has relentlessly struggled for his safe recovery. Recently, his daughter, prominent Baloch human rights activist Sammi Deen, faced renewed harassment when personnel affiliated with the Pakistan Army raided their home in an attempt to terrorize the family. Furthermore, Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Sibghatullah, both leaders of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), were unjustly sentenced to life imprisonment through secretive “faceless trials.”
During the campaign, BNM members distributed informative pamphlets and engaged directly with local citizens to expose the ground realities in Balochistan. Representatives reiterated their urgent appeals to the European Union and the United Nations, emphasizing that the Baloch constitute a distinct nation with a culture entirely separate from that of the broader Indian subcontinent, and that Balochistan was never a part of united India. Pakistan forcibly annexed Balochistan in 1948 and has since handed control of the region to its notorious army to sustain the occupation—resulting in unspeakable human rights violations.
BNM representatives further stated that without the independence of Balochistan, the restoration of human rights, social development, and the establishment of regional peace are impossible. They urged the international community to fulfill its humanitarian duty by supporting their right to sovereignty.
