Addressing a program organized by the Baloch National Movement (BNM) in Awaran Zone on the occasion of the 17-year-long enforced disappearance of BNM leader and prisoner for freedom, Dr. Deen Mohammad Baloch, the speakers stated that we are proud that our affiliation is with a national party whose leadership has written a new history of struggle by making unprecedented sacrifices of their lives and liberties. Thanks to these monumental sacrifices, today we feel proud to call ourselves members of the Baloch National Movement.
The chief guest of the meeting was BNM’s Human Rights Secretary, Dr. Nazir Noor. In addition to him, Chief Aslam, a member of the central committee of BNM, Talar Naz, vice president of Awaran Zone, and Meerak, treasurer of the Zone, addressed the program. Secretary of Shahmeer Manan unit , Wadar Baloch was the stage secretary of the program.
The speakers further added that Dr. Deen Jan’s 17-year-long and painful enforced disappearance, which spans approximately six thousand two hundred and five days and symbolizes a continuous collective punishment, has left deep and lasting impacts not only on his family but also on the entire party and the national movement. This long period is a saga of oppression, uncertainty, and human tragedy, the wounds of which remain fresh today.
In his speech, Dr. Nazir Noor explained enforced disappearance from the perspective of legal and human rights, stating that enforced disappearance is a severe form of state repression in which an individual is abducted beyond the law, their existence and whereabouts are denied, and they are completely deprived of legal protection. He said that this act does not merely target a single individual, but instead plunges their family, society, and the entire nation into mental, psychological, and social agony.
He also highlighted the fact that a large number of the political activists participating in the program consisted of young people who have never seen Dr. Deen Jan , yet they have made his thoughts, ideologies, national commitment, and struggle their organizational mission. This very fact serves as proof that while personalities can be temporarily hidden from sight, their ideologies, thoughts, and sacrifices will always remain a beacon of light for future generations.
