The Baloch National Movement (BNM) staged a protest in South Korea against the abduction of Dr. Deen Mohammad, a captive leader of the Baloch freedom movement, by the Pakistan Army and his ongoing enforced disappearance for the last 17 years. Protesters emphasized that the Baloch National Movement is a political party striving for the independence of Balochistan, and its central leader, Dr. Deen Mohammad, has been forcibly disappeared in the torture cells of the Pakistan Army for 17 years.
The demonstrators demanded the accountability of Pakistani authorities and appealed to the international community for support and cooperation for the freedom of Balochistan. Highlighting the issue of enforced disappearances in occupied Balochistan, the participants stated that the international community must pay attention to the pain and agony of the affected families.
On this occasion, speakers also raised their voices against the sentences handed down to BYC leader Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Sibghatullah Baloch, and BSO Chairman Balach Qadir through “faceless trials” (secret judicial proceedings). They asserted that in occupied Balochistan, the occupying state of Pakistan has seized all rights of the Baloch nation. For raising their voices for human rights, BYC leaders and student leaders like Balach Qadir have been sentenced in fabricated cases through so-called faceless trials.
The speakers expressed their resolve that the struggle for the freedom of Balochistan cannot be suppressed through coercion and violence. The backdrop of human rights violations in Balochistan is Pakistan’s occupation and its denial of the Baloch nation’s right to sovereignty. The Baloch nation is not prepared to retreat even an inch from its right to self-determination. Pakistan must end its occupation and immediately withdraw from Balochistan.
