Spokesman of the Baloch National Movement has strongly condemned the enforced disappearance of Dr. Liaqat Sunni, a poet, writer, and chairman of the Brahui Department at University of Balochistan, from Mastung. He added, naked aggression against individuals continues as usual. The abduction of Dr. Liaqat Sunni is another painful addition.
The spokesman said that the abduction of Dr. Liaqat Sunni was an attempt to steal the source of knowledge and intellect from Baloch society. This policy had been going on for decades to inhibit the growth and development of the Baloch nation in the field of science and literature. Saba Dashtyari’s, who was an edifice of knowledge, assassination in Quetta by Pakistan is another example of their tactics. Hundreds and thousands of torchbearers of knowledge including Haji Razzaq, Ustad Ali Jan, Professor Razzaq, and Zahid Askani had been earlier assassinated and taken away from us. “But the struggle for freedom against slavery is continuous and will continue in the future. He said that Pakistan was pursuing a multi-dimensional strategy of socio-economic aggression against the Baloch nation. “people are being killed and abducted in military operations across Balochistan on daily basis. Houses and possessions are being looted and burned. Death squads consisting of the Pakistani army, intelligence agencies, and criminals have morphed into bloodthirsty beasts. No one’s life is safe. The Baloch land has been turned into a hell for the Baloch people.”
The spokesman said, “We are convinced that Dr. Liaqat Sunni has been picked up by the secret agencies of the Pakistani state. The State of Pakistan is trying to cover its war crimes by depicting such enforced disappearances as kidnappings. State agencies are directly involved in the years-long kidnapping for ransom in Balochistan. Hafeezullah Baloch who was abducted from Dalbanden and the abducting Pakistani military Major Naveed demand six million rupees for his release. This case came to light after the Pakistani army chief himself accepted that the army major had kidnapped Hafeezullah for ransom.
Balochistan is a war zone. The fact that people are being picked up in the presence of army outposts and camps at every other kilometer is itself an indication that it is being carried out with the consent and tacit support of the state.”
