Pakistan’s Halt of Raji Muchi Proves Peaceful Human Rights Struggle in Balochistan is Futile: BNM Spokesperson

The spokesman of the Baloch National Movement (BNM) stated that the relationship between Balochistan and Pakistan has been clear from the beginning: Balochistan is a colony occupied by Pakistan, with Punjabi colonial power subjugating the Baloch nation. He emphasized that the peaceful struggle for human rights in Balochistan remains unattainable due to state violence, but the Baloch will persist in their peaceful resistance. He condemned the unprovoked shootings of innocent, peaceful people, questioning whether the Baloch can live safely in Pakistan.

He highlighted that the Baloch Yakjehti Committee, a human rights movement, organized a national gathering called ‘Raji Muchi’ in Gwadar to protest against human rights violations. The movement demands the restoration of rights guaranteed by the Pakistani constitution. Despite the peaceful intent, the Pakistani state used force, attacking cities and erecting barricades to prevent participation. This resulted in injuries and at least two confirmed deaths caused by direct firing from Pakistani forces.

Gwadar has been completely besieged, with land routes closed and mobile services cut off, making it difficult to ascertain the exact situation. Raids are being conducted to arrest human rights activists, and many have had their ID cards, mobile SIMs, and bank accounts frozen. The spokesman noted that despite the oppression, thousands gathered, defying the occupier’s hegemony. All democratic institutions have a permanent stain on their face that will never be cleaned. Despite the oppression, the Baloch nation tried to gather at the meeting place, and thousands of people gathered, defying the hegemony of the occupier.

The spokesman stated that the existence of Pakistan is the biggest threat to the survival of the Baloch nation. He called for all Baloch forces to unite and decide on a future course of action together. Despite differences and ideological contradictions, he emphasized the need to clarify common national interests that every Baloch must agree upon, regardless of political affiliations or ideologies.

Expressing concern over the proposal of American aid to Pakistan, the spokesman highlighted that some figures in the American administration are advocating for this aid, which is troubling. He argued that it violates human values to spend the money collected by the blood and sweat of American citizens on a country that has no regard for humanity. He reiterated that Pakistan is using American aid against humanity and even against American interests.

The spokesman urged the US government and senators to openly support Balochistan’s freedom movement instead of helping Pakistan. He suggested that direct support for the Baloch, Pashtun, Sindhi, and other subjugated nations would transform the region and bring prosperity to the world.

He pointed out that in Balochistan, officials from reliable human rights institutions like the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan face imprisonment and threats for highlighting the human rights situation. He called for immediate intervention from other international organizations, expressing belief that the United Nations can play an effective role in improving the situation in Balochistan.
