Geneva – Speaking at the Baloch National Movement (BNM) protest during the 57th United Nations Human Rights Council session, Jaffar Mirza, a researcher and PhD candidate at King’s College London, called for an immediate end to enforced disappearances in Pakistan.
Mirza, who attended the session to support the BNM protests, emphasized the critical need for Pakistan to address the exploitation of Balochistan’s mineral resources and the violation of basic human rights of the Baloch nation. He warned that continued state violence and persecution would only strengthen the resolve of the Baloch nation.
“The Balochistan issue is straightforward,” Mirza stated, “It’s about basic rights, human dignity, and recognition of the Baloch nation. The campaign against enforced disappearances is gaining global momentum, and Pakistan must decide how it intends to address these legitimate grievances.”
Mirza urged the Pakistani government to take swift action, cautioning that failure to do so could lead to dire consequences for all.
