The human rights organization Paank, affiliated with the Baloch National Movement (BNM), has released its monthly report for July 2025. The report documents serious human rights violations in Balochistan, including enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, torture, and attacks on civilians, supported by evidence and documentation. According to Paank, at least 96 people were forcibly disappeared and 19 were extrajudicially killed by the Pakistan Army and its affiliated institutions during the month.
Kech district remained the most affected, with 29 enforced disappearances.Shaal (Quetta) followed with 17 cases, and Gwadar with 9. Awaran reported 8, Washuk 7, Karachi and Panjgur 5 each, and Noshki and Dera Ghazi Khan 3 each. In Dera Bugti, Mastung, and Lasbela, 2 cases each were recorded, while single cases emerged from Khuzdar, Kalat, Chagai, and Islamabad.
Among the most alarming incidents, Paank highlights the arrest of an eight-year-old child, Shoaib Khalid, from Turbat, detained for sharing on social media a video of human rights activist Gulzar Dost’s speech.
The report also documents a Frontier Corps (FC) rocket attack on July 10 in Gwarukop, Kech district, where a playground was directly targeted. Seven civilians were injured; one of them, Ali Ghulam, died from his wounds, while Shahab Dostdil remains in a coma. Locals accused the FC of deliberately targeting civilians and demanded an independent investigation.
Extrajudicial killings continue to be a pressing concern. In July alone, 19 individuals were killed, including Karim Jan (Mashkay), Hammal Baloch (Tump), Ghulam Jan (Awaran), Azmat Rind (Dera Murad Jamali), Mujahid Baloch (Kharan), Shah Dur Mengal (Chagai), Hameed Baloch (Awaran), Nazeer Ahmed and Noor Khan (Awaran), Qanbar Aslam (Khuzdar), Mazar Baloch (Mashkay), Dr. Abdul Majeed Mengal, Attaur Rehman Mengal, and Mumtaz Mengal (Wadh, Khuzdar), as well as Ali Ghulam (Kech) and Shah Jahan (Panjgur).
