Renowned writer and political analyst Dr. Naseer Dashti addressed a seminar organized by the Baloch National Movement (BNM) in London on the fifth martyrdom anniversary of Banuk Karima Baloch. He said that Karima will undoubtedly be remembered as a pioneer who transformed the Baloch national struggle altogether.

Upholding the historic traditions of national resistance, the Baloch have struggled against powerful forces that deny their existence as a national entity. In this tortuous struggle for survival, countless individuals sacrificed everything, including their lives.

Reflecting on Baloch national resistance, Dr. Dashti said that if we look back at the 20th century, one name immediately comes to mind—Nawab Akbar Bugti—who altered changed the nature of the Baloch struggle, transforming it from isolated tribal resistance into a political movement led by the educated middle class, with a clear vision of national liberation.

He emphasized that Karima Baloch inspired thousands of Baloch women to join the national movement. Her unprecedented role captured the imagination of Baloch girls and motivated them to take part in the resistance. It was her unwavering commitment that enabled Baloch women to stand at the forefront of the struggle today.

Dr. Dashti noted that conditions have never been easy for Baloch political activists, and today’s circumstances are particularly harsh. Yet, in memory of Karima, the current generation of Baloch leadership must take the most difficult and courageous decisions to achieve the cherished goal of an honorable life for the Baloch within the community of nations.

He further stressed that Baloch leadership must address critical issues. The challenges facing the national resistance can only be resolved through a dedicated and united struggle under leadership defined by integrity, patriotism, and a clear political vision. Nationalists must revisit their strategies, and conscious elements of the resistance must adopt policies compatible with evolving regional and global realities.
