Dil Murad Baloch, Information Secretary of Baloch National Movement, while releasing a detailed report of January 2022, said that in the first month of the year, Pakistan Army detained and forcibly disappeared 92 persons in more than 50 military operations and raids across Balochistan.

In January, five people were by the Pakistani army and eight were killed by the army’s local death squad. Among those, one was a woman who was martyred by the Pakistani army in Sibi. This month, the Pakistani army bulldozed hundreds of homes in Mashkay and Jahoo. The army has also set up new military posts in different areas of Balochistan.

Dil Murad Baloch said that the Pakistani army has turned the Baloch land into hell for the native people. Every passing day “mirrors as doomsday” for the people of Balochistan.

He added that enforced disappearances of 92 people in a month means the same number of families are being subjected to collective punishment. What kind of person would be the one whose loved one is taken away by the army in front of his eyes and he can live in peace. We see this in the form of the cries of the families of missing persons on the streets of Balochistan who have been forcibly disappeared by the army.

He said the abduction, rape and murder of a woman by a Levies official in Kharan, this month, signalled a new shape and form of barbarism. Because the Levies Force has not been considered as an enemy of Baloch, but some incidents show that there is no such thing as “Balochiat” in this force. It is also now equally playing with the dignity of Baloch.

Dil Murad Baloch said that the brutality of the Pakistani army has reached such a level that even the elderly Baloch are not safe. At least four elderly people over the age of 70 have been reported missing this month.
