The Chairman of Baloch National Movement, Khalil Baloch said that the demise of the exiled Baloch journalist Sajid Hussain has deeply saddened us. “His death is an irreparable loss” to the Baloch nation. The chairman also expressed his fear for the thousands of other Baloch refugees who have sought asylum in different countries of the world. “We are disappointed to Swedish police and authorities upon the death of Sajid Hussain. It has created an alarming situation for the thousands of Baloch asylum seekers and refugees.”

He added, “The lives of the persecuted Baloch are not even safe in the civilized world. The international organization of journalists, “Reporters Without Borders” has also shared our fear that Pakistan spy agency could be behind the abduction and killing of Sajid Hussain. We had already expressed our concern that the notorious spy agency of Pakistan ISI (Inter Service Intelligence) could be involved in his abduction.” He criticized the Swedish police department due to their slow handling of the case and not giving importance to his disappearance at the initial phase. Due to this delay of the Swedish authorities, we lost a journalist, scholar and an asset”.

Chairman Khalil Baloch said that Pakistan had been playing bloodbath in Balochistan. “Pakistan army and intelligence agencies are immensely immersed in the process of Baloch genocide. The Baloch nation has been appealing to the world community for the last two decades to play their role”. He also criticized the role of the United Nations, saying “due to the negligence of the United Nations along with the civilized world, a humanitarian crisis has developed in Balochistan.”

He maintained, “Thousands of Baloch seeking refuge in Europe and other parts of the world had been campaigning to expose the war crimes of Pakistan in Balochistan; those include political activists, journalists, human rights activists, and writers. They should have been given protection by the UN which on the other hand had failed miserably in protecting Baloch refugees.

He said that those countries that are proud of their human rights values, and the disappearance of a journalist on broad daylight and later on his unfortunate demise is a remorseful incident in such a country. Sajid Hussain was not an ordinary person, but he with his abilities worked in the renowned daily English newspapers, “ The News International” and “Daily Times” of Pakistan as Assistant News Editor and Deputy City Editor respectively. After the killing of Baloch journalists in Balochistan and receiving continuous life threats Sajid Hussain kept on moving in different countries of the world, later on, he sought political asylum in Sweden. He launched his online magazine “Balochistan Times” to highlight the humanitarian crisis emerging from Balochistan. He was also getting his higher education form Uppsala University where he went missing from the 2nd of March.

BNM Chairman, Khalil Baloch said, with the death of Sajid Hussain, the Baloch nation has lost one of its worthy sons. He appealed to the Swedish government to ensure a transparent and speedy investigation of Sajid Hussain’s death. He, “due to the sensitivity and nature of the case”, appealed to the United Nations and other international organizations of journalists and human rights “to play their effective roles”.
