Baloch National Movement (BNM) held an important press conference at the beginning of 2025, highlighting serious human rights violations in Balochistan and expressing BNM’s New Year’s resolve.

The press conference was presented by Qazi Dad Muhammad Rehan, Information and Culture Secretary of Baloch National Movement (BNM), and was assisted by Hatim Baloch, Coordinator of BNM’s Human Rights Organization, Paank.

During the press conference, BNM’s Senior Vice Chairman Dr. Jalal Baloch and Deputy Coordinator of BNM’s Foreign Department, Niaz Baloch, also participated and answered questions from the audience on relevant subjects.

“Nation, Trust Us—We Are Working Day and Night on the Diplomatic Front,” Says Niaz Baloch

Niaz Baloch, Deputy Coordinator of BNM’s Foreign Affairs Department, while informing about BNM’s diplomatic efforts, said BNM works comprehensively. The diplomatic process is complex and requires patience. Our performance that has come to light in the media is less than what has been done, but due to diplomatic etiquette and circumstances, some things cannot be disclosed yet. The Baloch nation should trust that BNM activists are working day and night for their national goals.

“BNM’s Revolutionary Cadres Will Strive Relentlessly for an Ideal and Free Balochistan,” Says Dr. Jalal

Dr. Jalal, Senior Vice Chairman of BNM, said BNM is an ideological political party. We know that establishing an ideal state is not an easy goal; if Balochistan were free today, we would accept it, but BNM’s revolutionary cadres will strive with their efforts and revolutionary ideology for an ideal state so that a Balochistan can be established which is free on human grounds, where people can get justice, equality, and freedom.

“‘Zarif’s life was brutally taken through ruthless torture, including the horrific act of cutting off his tongue,’” Says Qazi Rehan.

The press conference began with Qazi Dad Muhammad Rehan, BNM’s Secretary of Information and Culture, explaining the current situation in Balochistan, detailing the ongoing state oppression and Baloch genocide. He stated that genocide is not limited to mass murder but is a plan to deprive the Baloch people of their land, language, culture, and identity.

It was mentioned in the press conference that in December 2024, Pakistani forces forcibly disappeared 22 individuals. Citing the example of Zarif son of Hoomar’s custodial murder, he explained how his tongue was cut and life taken through ruthless torture.

Zarif’s case was cited as an example of Pakistan Army’s atrocities, further stating how his family was continuously harassed and ultimately subjected to custodial killing.

The press conference referenced a report from BNM’s human rights organization, ‘Paank,’ stating that in December 2024, five individuals were killed, including three Baloch Sarmachaars who lost their lives in drone strikes.

BNM described the ongoing armed resistance of Baloch Sarmachaars in Balochistan as a movement for freedom, stating that this bloodshed will continue as long as the Pakistani occupation lasts.

‘The Afghan government’s stance is commendable; both Iran and Afghanistan should extend their support to Baloch refugees.’

BNM also discussed Pakistani forces’ attacks across the border targeting Baloch refugees. They described attacks on Pashtun refugees in Afghanistan as Pakistani aggression and a violation of international laws.

BNM praised the current Afghan government’s stance on refugees fleeing Pakistani atrocities but requested more attention and aid for the plight of Baloch refugees in neighboring countries, Iran and Afghanistan. They said Pakistan is conducting attacks on Baloch refugees with the help of criminals, hired killers, and drug dealers, throwing hand grenades into homes and targeting people for murder.

At the conclusion of the press conference, BNM stated that in the new year of 2025, they will intensify their efforts to protect Baloch rights and highlight these atrocities globally. Activists were instructed to expand their influence both within and outside Balochistan.

Qazi Dad Muhammad Rehan and other BNM leaders answered questions from the audience regarding BNM’s policies and strategies.

‘There is no possibility of BNM merging with any party in the near future,’ stated Qazi Rehan

Qazi Rehan, in response to a question, categorically stated that there is currently no talk of BNM merging with any party, nor is there any possibility of BNM merging with another party in the near future. BNM itself is the largest alliance of educated political cadres and a revolutionary political party. Our desire is to preserve the revolutionary heritage we have received for the coming generations even after Balochistan’s independence. However, he clarified that for Balochistan’s freedom, we accept the role of all stakeholders and seek collaboration with them.

He stated that if, in the future, any party aligns ideologically with BNM, agrees with our policies, and shares our standards and political values, then, in my view, no other party possesses a more revolutionary and nationalist heritage or political continuity than BNM. In that case, we would certainly unite on one platform. However, such a possibility does not seem imminent.
